Circa Resort & Casino is the first new-built hotel-casino in downtown Las Vegas in about 40 years. The property, under construction at Fremont and Main streets downtown, is due to open in December. As the new Visit Vegas marketing video makes clear, there’s a “new Vegas, for a new reality” that is getting ready “just for you.” Much like at other mega-packed destinations, such as Disney World, a full reopening of Las Vegas isn’t going to be fast or simple. The Drew is hoping to be one day be the biggest and most lavish resort in Las Vegas. Today, it’s the biggest eyesore on the Strip. The shell of the property was constructed years ago when it was set to open as the Fontainebleu in 2008. However, the economic downtown and recession changed all that. The hotel never opened and remains a blemish on the Strip skyline. At 735 feet, it’s the tallest building in Vegas if you don’t count the Strat.
New Casinos In Las Vegas
The unfinished resort is now in the hands of the Witkoff Group, who is planning to finally open it as The Drew in partnership with Marriott. Little progress has been made so far and the opening date has been pushed back until at least 2022. Smoke damage from a fire is rumored to be a major factor in the setbacks. The Drew is so big, it can only fail or succeed on a grand scale. When it finally opens, it will be the most talked about Strip hotel in years. Otherwise, the only answer is a good old fashioned Vegas implosion.
