The New Balance 5th Avenue Mile opens a beautiful 20-block stretch of 5th Avenue to runners of all ages and abilities who want to run their best mile in New York City. Special races include a youth mile, the George Sheehan Memorial Mile for runners age 60 and over, the NYRR Road Mile Championships, and Olympic-caliber professional men's and women's races. Ostrander, a Kenai Central and Boise State graduate who turned pro earlier this summer, finished 16th in the 5th Avenue Mile with a time of 4 minutes, 33.5 seconds. She was one of 20 runners. New Balance 5th Avenue Mile presented by NYRRThe race starts on Manhattan’s famed Fifth Avenue near East 80th Street, in the heart of “Museum Mile.” From there it heads one mile south on Fifth Avenue to the finish at East 60th Street.

Coinciding with the iconic New Balance 5th Avenue Mile on September 9, in which thousands of runners will dash down a beautiful 20-block stretch of New York City, this is your chance to join the competition virtually from anywhere in the world.
Throughout the race window, go for your fastest mile, and then try to beat your time on the leaderboard. And if you're planning to be in New York City on September 9, sign up for the in-person New Balance 5th Avenue Mile, too -- you can make your mile count toward that race, as well as the virtual race.
It's a test of mental toughness. So focus, put your whole heart into it, and set a new personal record.
Register for this virtual race with our friends over at New York Road Runners on their site or in the NYRR app. Please note: Upon uploading your results, you must tag the activity as a Race for Strava to count the fastest time you ran that distance and mark the race complete.
Share photos and videos from your virtual race and we may feature you in the NBC Sports broadcast of the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile on September 9!
All you have to do is register for and run the virtual race, and then share a photo or video on Instagram and/or Twitter using the hashtags #NB5thAveMileBroadcast and #NYRRVirtualRacing between September 1 and September 8. Read the terms and conditions.

Right on Oregon. Right. on Thorton. Left on Lake Highland go around the lake past Lake Highland Prep. Right on Marks Street (1 Mile Mark) continue down the street and cross Magnolia Ave. Right on Orange Ave and around Legions Plaza head under I-4 and the street will turn into Lakeview. Lakeview to Edgewater Dr.(2 mile mark at intersection) Left on Edgewater Dr. Right on S. Lake Adair Blvd. and Run around the lake to N. Lake Adair Blvd. Left on Edgewater Dr. continue on (3 mile mark at Edgewater and Maxwel) turn Right on Princeton St. Turn Right on Harrison Ave. (4 mile mark) Left on Yale Ave. Right on Ivanhoe Ave. Take that road down to the lake Left on NW Ivanhoe Blvd. and continue around lake. Turn Right on Darthmouth St. Go under I-4 (5 mile mark) Right on Gurtler Court. Left on NE Ivanhoe Blvd. Right on N.
