Punjab examination Commission started its working as an independent body earlier in 2005. For the very first time in history the commission organized the exams for the aspirants of 5th and 8th class in 2006 and since then it has been conducting the exams across the province in strict and fair environment and also announces the fair results so that all the hopefuls get the fruitful outcomes of their hard work.

Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) is a main body of education system, was came into being in 2005. Before the establishment of PEC there was an authority that was Director Public Instructions (DPI). DPI was responsible to provide the standard procedure for the conduction of Grade 5th and 8th exams.In Punjab province there was a need of such self-governed body that provides guideline and regulate policies for the organization of exams at primary and middle level.
